Well, our most exciting news is that I am pregnant and we are having a baby girl (the ultra-sound tech said she was 90% sure, so I'm going with it). We are so excited to see our family grow, and for Brooke to be a big sister, it seems like we've been waiting a long time for this and we're just so excited. I am about 18 weeks along and am due the very beginning of January. Things have been going really well (except for this past weekend, see ahead)and the baby is doing great!
We did have a little drama here this past weekend. I am a fairly healthy person so I guess what I lack in quantity of illnesses I try to make up for in quality. Thursday night I started feeling very sick, but I didn't want to take Brooke with us to the ER and I didn't know who we could leave her with in the middle of the night, so I made it through the night and first thing Friday morning we left Brooke with a neighbor and Reid took me to the ER. There were a few different possibilities for the pain: kidney stones, stretching ligaments, gall bladder, or a twisted ovarian cyst. So they did an ultrasound (and we got to see our baby, it is still surprising to me how beautiful that blurry shot is)to try and figure out what was wrong. Then the ER doctor came in and kind of told us they weren't sure what the problem was, that they would consult with my obg but most likely they would just send me home with pain medication. So Reid and I were kind of planning on leaving when the OBG came in and said he thought the cyst was twisted and they needed to do surgery immediately to have it removed. Well, obviously I was freaking out as surgery during pregnancy is not exactly ideal but it seemed like what had to be done. So we went ahead with it and everything went so well. The baby is fine and while I am a little sore, I am so much better than I was before that I really have no room to complain. I am so grateful to the doctor and the nurses, I was an emotional wreck, and everyone was so amazing. Definitely not something that I wanted to have happen but I am just so grateful that everything went so well and that the baby is doing great! I am already feeling so much better, a nice family from church is watching Brooke today so I can get a little rest. Everyone has been so great in helping us out, sometimes I think the whole surgery thing might just be worth all the delicious food!
