Eight New Things

Brooke has been tagged, so here are 8 things you might not know about her.

1) She LOVES Elmo and has an uncanny ability to spot Elmo anywhere. Whether his picture is on a can of green beans, a balloon way above her head, or on a remote book way back on the shelf, she will see him and start screaming his name. We rarely watch Sesame Street so I don't know where this obsession came from, but she loves that furry monster.

2) She's become a little abusive. We were playing aroud this weekend when she accidentally dropped Hokey Pokey Elmo (Heather, if you read this I'm so sorry we permanently borrowed him we really meant to return him before we moved!) on my face and his very heavy foot clobbered me in the eye. So I now have a black eye and Reid's afraid people will think he's abusing me when really it's our two year old.
3)She is a tree hugger. The other day we went for a walk and Brooke insisted on hugging every tree we passed (it was A LOT of trees). After huggging each tree she would say "bye, tree" and then move on to hug the next one.
4) Her first word after mom and dad was tickel. When we were changing her diaper she would tickel our feet and keep saying "tickel" over and over again. She still loves to be tickeled and to tickel us.

5) She loves fruit, especially watermelon. I have never seen her say no to watermelon, she will just keep eating it until we stop her.

6) She loves to swim. When we got back from Costa Rica this past winter she had gotten so used to swimming everyday that she would get her swimsuit out of her dresser, put it on on top of her clothes and come and tell me "ready, swim".
7) She does not have self-esteem issues. After I get her ready in the morning she goes to look in the mirror, smiles at herself and says "cute".
8) She is very polite. She always says please and thank you. Even when she is ripping something out of another child's hand she remembers to say thank you.

The Zoo!

We had so much fun at the zoo! Brooke is so obsessed with animals, so she just had a ball! She loved the monkeys, snakes, elephants and lions; but I think her favorite were the otters. She loved watching the otters swim and play around, they were probably the most animated animals we saw and Brooke couldn't take her eyes off them.

She's Two!

It is amazing how the time has flown by! I remember the day she was born and how little she was and I just can't believe the little hurricane that is running around our house is the same person. I am just so grateful to have Brooke in my life, she is so sweet and funny! I love her so much! We had so much fun celebrating her birthday. We ate pizza and watched The Bee Movie and then we opened her presents and had ice cream cake. She really did have fun, she just won't smile for the camera anymore!
Brooke loved her new doll, I just had to get it I can't resist buying bald dolls, they look so much alike!

This is my first attempt at making an ice cream cake, and can I just say it was delicious! Ice cream and cake together, genius!
I think this is a cute video of Brooke on her birthday! She is very excited to go to the zoo tomorrow!

What We've Been Up To

1)As our time in New Mexico was coming to a close we went on one last hike up in the mountains. We've really enjoyed living in an area that has so many great places to hike and fish and hunt and really just enjoy the outdoors. We're sad to leave!

2) We made the drive from New Mexico to Tennesse in two days. Brooke was amazing! We're so excited to be in our new place. It's great to see how green everything is and to have so many rivers around. We really think we will like it here!

3)Giving ourselves an idea of what Brooke will look like when she actually has hair.

4)Right after we moved my grandmother passed away. So I went out to California for a quick weekend for the funeral. All of my siblings were there except one sister who couldn't make it, so it was good to see everyone. The funeral was really great my grandma such a great woman and she has been waiting a long time to die, so it's just wonderful to think of her in heaven with my grandpa. It was also the first time that I have been away from Brooke overnight and that was a bit rough but I was just thrilled to see her when I got back on Mother's Day!

5)Happy Mother's Day! My sweethearts made me a delicious dinner and strawberry cheesecake to welcome me home (aren't they the best?). It was so good to be back with my baby and eating cheesecake (YUM!)
