Funny Stuff

Owen has been so funny lately.  I love this stage when he is trying to figure the world out and constantly asking really random, funny questions. Here are a few:

"Mom, are you thinking what I am thinking?" "I don't know what are you thinking Owen?" "I am thinking we should have chocolate marshmallows for breakfast." -Yeah, not what I was thinking!

"How do we get to heaven when we die? Do the astronauts take us?"

To strangers and random people "Isn't it sad that we are all going to die?"

"When we move, do you have to pack me in a box?"

BYU Vs. Georgia Tech

We went down to Atlanta to watch the BYU football game.  Reid thinks going to BYU football games is a good way to help our kids to see what a great school BYU is so they will all want to go there.  But anyways we went to the football game, BYU won, the kids had fun, it was great!

Fall Break Unpictured

So you know the whole "If a tree falls in the woods but no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound?" As a mother I've come across my own puzzling conundrum.  If we do something fun as a family but we don't take any pictures, did we really do something fun together?  Seriously, pictures help me remember things so much better.  I often catch myself when I'm remembering family events, picturing the pictures to help me remember what happened.  So when I don't take pictures, I have a hazy recollection that we did something cool and that's about it.  But we DID do some fun things over fall break even if I didn't take pictures.

  • The kids got flu shots and then we got dunkin donuts.
  • We went to the pumpkin patch, where we each picked out a pumpin and rambled through the corn maze.
  • We went to Reid's company picnic at the park.
  • We played flashlight tag with the kids in the neighborhood.
  • We went and saw Hotel Transylvania (we loved it!)
  • We went to the park with some friends.
  • We went on bike rides.

Captain America

So Owen LOVES superheroes, and is always stealing things from around the house to be different superheroes.

Wolverine

Thor

But his favorite one to be is usually Captain America, for his Captain America costume he uses the lids off these cute containers I bought at an antique shop.
Baby Captain America
It didn't bother me, until I realized he is totally ruining my lids.  Then I started to get annoyed and everytime he so much as looked at one of the lids I would kindly ask him to not play with the lids, then I would tell him to put the lid down, then I would say "Owen if you pick that lid up one more time you are going to time out", then I would say "Owen , I warned you, you are going to time out." And then it would start again, for three months until today we sat down for 5 minutes and made a shield out of a paper plate.  Seriously, how did I not do this sooner.  My little boy looked up at me with his big brown eyes and said "Momma, now I can be Captain America like I've always wanted, thank you so much."

Again I ask how did I not take the 5 minutes to make this shield 3 months ago?

Happy Halloween

So can I say, I've always loved Halloween but oh my it is a pain.  I am exhausted!  But we all had fun and it is all over for another year!

Millie was an elephant.  Isn't she the cutest?

Owen was the Incredible Hulk, which we thought was so fitting.  I wonder why we thought encouraging the negative behavior we are often upset about was a good idea.  But he was kind of awesome, so oh well.

Brooke was Cleopatra.  Here she is practicing her "Egyptian walk".

Again, how cute is that elephant?

We went to the Boo at the Zoo.

I made Ghostly Sheperd's Pie.  My favorite Halloween dinner!

 We carved pumpkins.

We made Halloween marshmallow pops and introduced our kids to Michael Jackson's thriller and tried to demonstrate moonwalking which we are both awful at.

 Pictures with friends.

Can you tell my kids are excited about the candy?

Happy Halloween! Thank goodness it is over, I'm tired!
