Fall Break Unpictured

So you know the whole "If a tree falls in the woods but no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound?" As a mother I've come across my own puzzling conundrum.  If we do something fun as a family but we don't take any pictures, did we really do something fun together?  Seriously, pictures help me remember things so much better.  I often catch myself when I'm remembering family events, picturing the pictures to help me remember what happened.  So when I don't take pictures, I have a hazy recollection that we did something cool and that's about it.  But we DID do some fun things over fall break even if I didn't take pictures.

  • The kids got flu shots and then we got dunkin donuts.
  • We went to the pumpkin patch, where we each picked out a pumpin and rambled through the corn maze.
  • We went to Reid's company picnic at the park.
  • We played flashlight tag with the kids in the neighborhood.
  • We went and saw Hotel Transylvania (we loved it!)
  • We went to the park with some friends.
  • We went on bike rides.

Things We've Been Up To

We went to the zoo. It was fun, although I really think I'm going to need a leash for Owen if I ever want to leave my house after the baby (did anyone see that Modern Family?)

Brooke's friend Kaitlyn slept over one night when her parents were out of town.  They surely did enjoy themselves, between dressing up, painting their nails and having ice cream they had quite the night.

Brooke played soccer this spring.  She had a lot of fun.  I think more than anything she really loved interacting with the other girls and being part of a team.

Every game Brooke tried to get the girls to block the goal with her and kind of thought it was weird that her coach always made them move.  Obviously blockading the goal is a pretty sure fire way to win, right?

We went to a Smokies baseball game.

Our seats were right above the dugout, and Brooke got a ball after one of the innings.  She was quite excited about that!

This is Diamond one of the Smokies mascots.  He was hanging out by our seats for awhile, and Owen was quite enamored with him.
The fireworks after the game were my favorite part.  I am always impressed with their firework displays they are always so cool.

Buddy Bear came for a visit.  Buddy Bear is Brooke's kindergarten class mascot.  She was so excited to have him come home for an entire weekend and I was so excited that she wrote almost the entire journal entry by herself that I couldn't help but take a picture.  She really loves to write and she is getting so much more confident with spelling and things its so fun to see how much she has learned this year!

No camera = No cool stuff

Shortly after posting about how Owen likes to throw things, he threw our camera and broke it. Luckily, my mom is coming to visit in a couple weeks and offered to bring us her old camera. So the problem is, it is Halloween season and we don't have a camera and I've noticed the lack of a camera leaves me unmotivated to do cool stuff. Why should I make cool halloween food or come up with cool costumes for my kids if we have no way to document it so that in the future I can show them that we really were fun? I mean without pictures it's kind of like it never happened anyway, right?
