Thoughts From Brooke

"Mom, that headband makes you look mean. Like a dragon."

"I had a frosty and some of those longish, straight thingys." -When we asked her what she ate when my mom took her to Wendy's.

"When I grow up I want to be a whistle player in soccer. I don't want to kick the ball, just blow my whistle."

"I love hula hoops for breakfast." (aka fruit loops)

"If Owen was nicer maybe he'd have some friends too."

New Year Resolutions

I love making goals and I get an especially big kick out of making New Years Resolutions. I like thinking about the changes I want to see in myself and in my life. I like goals, they please my list making tendencies and I think they're fun. So I got this idea from my sister-in-law Amy and last night we all made some goals for 2010.

Reid:
Pass the Proffesional Engineering Exam
Buy a house
Get in shape
Build a tv stand
Read a book

Bonnie:
Be Nicer.
I was thinking about this in three different ways. First of all, no gossiping. I don't this too much, but whenever I idly say something about someone not meaning to gossip but just talking, I feel so bad and I hate it. Second, I want to be friendlier. I have a hard time getting to know people, I feel awkward and nervous. So I tend to expect people to get to know me without making the effort myself. Lastly, I want to be quicker to help and to be kind. Whenever I see a situation where someone needs help I think it through too much. I wonder if they really need help, if I would just be more of a nuisance than a help, if I really could help, etc. I really just want to work on being a nicer, kinder person.
Learn to Hula Hoop I've never been able to hula hoop. Nope, not even once. But I have this feeling that this is the year my crazy good hula hooping skills are going to show themselves!
Make a budget and stick to it all year long. I love making budgets, it is so fun! Sticking to them on the other hand is not my strong suit.
Make our home a peaceful & more welcoming place. I want to try and keep our house cleaner (don't think we are disgusting or anything I just think our house could be a little cleaner). I am fairly good at keeping our house neat, but not so great at the deep cleaning and the organinzing, that needs some work. Also,I've been thinking I need to invest in some really good smelling candles or scentsy or something to make our house a more inviting and pleasant place to be. My secret wish is that I could always have fresh flowers in my house, fresh flowers always seem to make places more inviting and happy. But alas, that is a little pricey for us.
Read the Book of Mormon from cover to cover. Lately I've been jumping around a lot in the scriptures and I want to get back and just read through the Book of Mormon, from start to finish again.

Brooklin
Get better at riding my bike
Be a better sharer
Learn to write
Learn to jump rope
Memorize all 13 Articles of Faith (she's already memorized the first 8)

Brooke was so excited about making her goals and she has been talking about them ever since.

Owen
(Brooke graciously helped Owen come up with some goals!)
Learn to clean up his toys
Learn to talk
Learn to not eat toys
Be a good brother
Get better at walking and running, so you don't fall so much.

So those are our goals for this year. You can tell who thinks things through a little too much :)
Happy New Year!

Happy Birthday Owen!

When we got back from Utah we decided to go to Chuck E. Cheese with some friends for Owen's birthday. It was the first time we'd ever been and it was fun. Owen thought it was pretty cool, although he was afraid of the Bob the Builder ride, and Brooke LOVED it! We also got Owen some mega blocks and a recycling truck which have been great fun for us all!

Utah Trip

Wow our Utah trip was way fun and crazy! We had something going on every day! It was so fun to see all of my family, and enjoy the beautiful Utah mountains. Here are some of the highlights from our trip:
SPA DAY
We had a little Bridal shower for Glaucia at a spa in Park City. I had my first facial and massage and it was incredible!

FOOTBALL
Brooke stole the heart of her Grandpa Jim when she snuggled up and watched football with him. Then when she started cheering "GO Cougars!" she totally had him!

SANTA PARTY We were so excited to finally be able to go to my mom and Jim's Santa party that they have every year. It was such a great party, Santa came with two elves and gave each kid a present. All the kids loved it... with the exception of our two kids. They both screamed! Brooke has been pretty good with Santa this year a little nervous, but at that party she wouldn't go near him. She took her present and then ran away. But the next day she started talking about how fun the party was and how much she loved Santa, crazy kid!

ASPEN GROVEMy family rented a cabin in Aspen Grove for four days. It was so fun to have everyone together. It was also convenient for snowmobiling, sledding, snowboarding and playing in the snow. Reid and I tried snowboarding for the first time. We just borrowed some snowboards and went to the tow rope with the 4 year old kids. It took us a while to figure out how to get the snoboards on and how to get up the tow rope but we figured it out and had a ball. Maybe next time we'll have a little more time to learn how to snowboard.

JAZZ GAMEWe went to our first Jazz game and got to see the Jazz beat the 76ers! So fun!

BABIES 1st BIRTHDAY Last year there were 4 babies born in the month of December in my family. So we had a 1st birthday party for all 4 babies to celebrate!

DINOSAUR MUSEUMThe dinosaur museum at Thanksgiving Point was way cool. Brooke loved it, especially the triceratops. On the way up to the museum Brooke said "Is this a wake up kind of dinosaur museum?" We assured her that it was not a wake up kind of dinosaur museum. Then she said "Triceratops can wake up, because its nice."

PRINCESS TEA PARTYMy mom had a tea party for the girls where they played dressups and had little sandwiches and hot chocolate and then she took them to see The Princess and the Frog. I was so impressed by my mom, not only did she take all 7 of the little girls out but she also took the 6 little boys out to lunch and to see Alvin and the chipmunks, and she also took her teenage grandkids to a midnight showing of Avatar now that is some serious devotion!

NATHAN & GLAUCIA'S WEDDING It was so great to be there for my brother Nathan's wedding! Glaucia is wonderful and we are just so happy for them! Brooke was a flower girl and just loved it, she was so cute throwing the flowers, and she just loved her dress. Also, Nathan and Glaucia sure know how to throw a party, we had so much fun dancing, it was a wonderful wedding! Congratulations Nathan and Glaucia!
