On the Move

Owen is officially a mover! He is getting good at crawling and is starting to get faster. A funny move he does is where he will be sitting, then roll on to his hands and knees and then sit up and start the whole thing again. It's a pretty slow way of getting to places, but I guess whatever works! He also just started pulling himself up on things and it is scaring me to pieces. He is figuring out how to get into the toy baskets and has started getting in to things. I don't know if I'm ready for this yet!

Finally, Brooke's 1st Haircut!

At long last the time arrived to give Brooke a haircut! We were kind of hoping we could wait until Owen needed one too and give them their first haircuts together, but it was time. Obviously her hair still isn't very long, but she was starting to get a little bit of a rat tail in the back so I decided to trim it to even it out a little. We don't want her fitting in too well here in East Tennessee :)! Anyways, I think it looks much better and Brooke likes it too!

Happy Anniversary!

Happy 6th Anniversary! We decided to go out and celebrate last night. We don't get a babysitter very often (ok like never), so Brooke didn't really get the idea when I tried to explain it to her. She kept asking if the girls mom was going to come and if she had to have a car seat to ride in the car and if she was going to be able to get the ice cream down, but she had a blast and has been talking about Lauren ever since. Reid made a list of some different Knoxville restaurants that had been recommended and we decided to try anew restarurant. So we drove by this restaurant that had been recommended and it looked cute and quaint but a little run down. Whooah it was nice! When we got inside we realized we were a little out of our league but we decided to just go for it so we had one of the fanciest dinners we have ever had and probably will ever have! Reid had Muck Fish on beet ravioli with wild mushroom salad in a safron sauce and I had pan roasted chicken stuffed with mushrooms, goat cheese and pine nuts on a bed of spinach and parmesan polenta. We really had a fun time and are quite thrilled that we don't drink wine as there were several bottles for over $500 on their wine list, now that would have made a dent in our budget!

Then tonight we had a fun dinner and had a special anniversary cake with Brooke and she took some pictures of us (notice the fingers in the pictures). We also were on a newlywed panel for the YM and YW in our ward. We totally rocked it, although to be fair the other couples had only been married a couple months and 2 years so it would have been embarassing to lose!

Anyways, I just love thinking about the past 6 years and everything that Reid and I have done together! I just love building this life with him! Reid is such an amazing husband and I am so grateful that I get to be married to him forever! Happy Anniversay!

Uncle Nate

We had a fun visit this past weekend with my brother Nathan. Brooke kept saying "You're so silly Uncle Nate". She loved having him here. We went to Dollywood Splash Country on Saturday, I thought Brooke would love it, but she was not so impressed and just kept asking if we could go to the "real dollywood" with roller coasters! I was pretty frustrated, as much as those tickets are I wanted her to be LOVING it. But, we still had fun and it was great to see Nathan!

Friends

Brooke just loves talking about all of her friends and how they are all so special. She is so funny about it whenever she is playing with someone she always says "you are my best friend ever, I love you!" It is so fun to see her friendships grow and I am so glad she has so many fun friends to play with!

5K

Two of my goals this summer were 1)run a 5k and 2) run a 6 min. mile. Well, I am laughably no where near the 2nd one but I did do the 1st one. I hadn't really ran a race since high school so I was a little nervous, but it was great! My goal was to be under 30 min. and my time was 29:13 (in my secret hopes I was shooting for 27 min). It was a really hilly race, but it was just so fun to race again!

Brooke also enjoyed the race, and was busy copying all the runners stretching, we'll have to let her do a fun run next year.
